Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba recently demonstrated his strong commitment to advancing gender equality and combating gender-based violence (GBV), joining advocates, creators, and stakeholders at a powerful open mic event commemorating activism towards eliminating GBV.
The Call for Representation
The event, fueled by the energy of creativity and advocacy, provided a critical platform for discussion. In his message, Hon. Nwawuba pointed out the fundamental importance of women’s representation in national decision-making.
He highlighted the timeliness of this conversation, especially with the Reserved Seats for Women Bill currently before the House of Representatives. This landmark legislative effort aims to ensure a stronger, more equitable presence of women in governance, a move he strongly endorses.

“I remain strongly committed to supporting every effort that strengthens women’s voices and advances the fight against gender-based violence,” Hon. Nwawuba stated. “True national progress requires that the voices, experiences, and perspectives of over half of our population are not just heard, but are empowered to shape policy.”
Driving Change Through Institutional Collaboration
Hon. Nwawuba emphasized that his commitment extends beyond public declarations. In his current role as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund (NALTF), he is actively contributing to this agenda by:
- Collaborating with Key Committees: Ensuring that legislative committees focused on gender affairs and human rights have access to necessary research and documentation.
- Supporting Advocacy Groups: Working with organizations championing the fight against GBV to provide them with the informational platform and institutional support required to drive meaningful change.

He stressed that the Library’s resources are being strategically deployed to ensure that policy supporting women’s rights is informed, evidence-based, and effective.
Appreciation for Creative Advocacy
Hon. Nwawuba extended his sincere appreciation to GSAI (the organizing body) for creating a powerful platform that leverages creativity to drive meaningful conversations and mobilize action against GBV. Events like these, which blend advocacy with artistic expression, are vital in shifting cultural attitudes and demanding justice.
His participation affirms that the fight against gender inequality and violence is a key priority, integrating his institutional leadership at NALTF with his long-standing track record as a legislative reformer dedicated to social justice.
